ID.UNYX Pure Electric SUV

On July 17, ID.UNYX Pure Electric SUV officially went on sale, with a total of 3 models launched. The new car is positioned as a compact sporty SUV, and is the first model from the Volkswagen (Anhui) brand to go on sale in China. Compared to the ID. models from FAW-Volkswagen and SAIC-Volkswagen, the overall style of the car is more sporty.

In terms of appearance, ID.UNYX is the first car to feature a golden Volkswagen logo. The car has a through LED light strip on the front, with IQ.Light intelligent matrix LED headlights on both sides. The triangular light group makes the car's eyes look very sharp. The car also has a very bold black front bumper, with air intakes on both sides, further increasing the sporty feel.

From the side, the new car has a very dynamic fastback coupe shape, full of a sense of readiness, and the dual-color five-spoke wheels look very sporty. Looking at the rear of the car, it has a through taillight, and the Volkswagen logo can be lit up. The irregular multi-sided suspended light source on both sides looks full of sci-fi futuristic feel. In terms of size, the car's length, width and height are 4663/1860/1610mm, and the wheelbase is 2766mm.

In terms of interior, the new car is equipped with a small LCD instrument panel and a large central control screen. In terms of technology, the new car is compatible with Apple CarPlay, Baidu CarLife, and Huawei HiCar mobile phone connectivity, and is equipped with AI large language models, 3D image customization, intelligent vehicle control, and L2+ level driving assistance functions, among others.

In terms of power, the ID.UNYX with others will have single-motor two-wheel drive and dual-motor four-wheel drive models to choose from. The single-motor model has a maximum power of 170kW, and the dual-motor model has a combined maximum power of 250kW. The car is equipped with an 82.4kWh ternary lithium battery pack, with a CLTC cruising range of 621km and 565km for the single-motor and dual-motor models, respectively.

ID.UNYX with others is a compact SUV coupe priced at around 200,000 yuan, and overseas brands have not performed well in this segment of the market. The main pressure on the car comes from Chinese brands. For example, the model with a similar positioning is the Zeekr X, which is a sports car model. In addition, the G6 from Xpeng, which is also positioned as a sports SUV, has some overlap in price with this car, but the G6 has a larger body size and is positioned as a mid-size SUV.

FAW and SAIC Volkswagen have already launched many ID. series pure electric SUVs, but the ID.UNYX Pure Electric SUV with others is not based on these models. It can be seen as the sister model of the Cupra Tavascan. In fact, Cupra Tavascan was put into production by FAW Volkswagen (Anhui) Co., Ltd. in December 2023, but the car was only exported to the European market. ID.UNYX's overall style is more sporty, and it forms a significant distinction from the current ID. series models of FAW and SAIC Volkswagen. In terms of market positioning, it complements each other and can attract more young consumers' attention.
