Changan Mazda CX-50

On March 16, Changan Mazda added a new 2.5L Xingya version to the CX-50. The Changan Mazda CX-50 2.5L Xingya version has the same appearance and interior as the other models on sale, and compared with the 2.5L entry-level model Yingxing version, it has added a panoramic rearview camera, front and rear radar, rearview mirror electric folding and heating, keyless entry, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, and a rear-mounted central armrest.

Mazda's design is mostly online. The CX-50 still adopts the "Soul of Motion" design concept, with a wing-shaped front end and an active close-in air intake grille. The new front lights with slanting eyelids are equipped with LED light sources, and the lighting effect has high recognition.

Like its "Xingya" car name, CX-50 is shaped into a product that emphasizes "wildness". Whether it is the front end, body trim, etc., the car uses a lot of black components, especially the thick side package, which makes it look more outdoor style. The Intelligent Edition and Honor Edition will be equipped with 19-inch aluminum alloy bicolor wheels, which are more dynamic in appearance, and other models will be equipped with 17-inch wheels.

In terms of body size, the CX-50 has a length, width and height of 4785/1920/1638mm, and the wheelbase is 2815mm, which is slightly larger than the compact SUV market. The new car will be available in 7 colors.

In the interior design, compared to the current trends of various car brands, the Mazda CX-50 is still leaning towards conservative design, which will delight some consumers who prefer traditional styles, but may disappoint those who prefer sleek, tech-forward designs.

The all-new model features a 7-inch digital instrument cluster combined with a mechanical needle gauge, while the 10.25-inch central display is standard across the range. The design remains classic with a floating style. Below the through air outlet grille, physical buttons such as the air conditioning dials are retained, making operation very convenient.

The Premium version comes with 17-inch wheels, one-touch start, automatic parking, front and rear head curtain airbags, a rearview camera; the Premium Plus version starts with LED daytime running lights, electric folding/heating/auto-folding rearview mirrors, a power sliding panoramic sunroof, keyless entry, dual-zone independent automatic air conditioning, and a 360-degree panoramic view; the Safety version will provide a piano black center console trim, a leather steering wheel, seat/side mirror follow-me memory, a hands-free trunk, blind spot monitoring, rear collision warning, and App remote control.

The Yuexing version, as the entry-level 2.5L model, has better power performance than the Yuxing version, and also comes with features such as an openable panoramic sunroof, rear charging interface, LED daytime running lights, and a makeup mirror light. The Zhiying version has 19-inch bicolor wheels, a roof rack, and the same other configurations and Anxing version, making it overall quite rich in features. The top-of-the-line Zunxing version, on the other hand, comes with steering wheel shift paddles, HUD (Heads-Up Display) heads-up display, a panoramic image with a body view, a front-side braking system for horizontal vehicles, and a 12-speaker audio system.

In terms of space experience, a 172cm tester can get a one-finger headroom in the front row, and a four-finger headroom and two-finger legroom in the rear. At the same time, it also has a fairly large trunk, which can arrange the daily transportation of a three-person family quite well.

● Familiar power formula + torsion beam rear suspension

The Mazda CX-50 is equipped with a 2.0L and 2.5L naturally aspirated engine, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. This power system is likely familiar to many of you, and the combination of the transmission and engine is also quite good. In terms of specifications, the 2.0L engine has a maximum power of 155 horsepower and a peak torque of 200 Nm; the 2.5L engine has a maximum power of 188 horsepower and a peak torque of 250 Nm. The suspension part, the previous CX-5 had a multi-link independent rear suspension, while the CX-50 this time uses a torsion beam rear suspension.

From a traditional market perspective, the main competitors of Mazda CX-50 will still come from Japanese brands, including the just-updated Toyota RAV4, the Nissan X-Trail with e-POWER, and the fully redesigned Honda CR-V. CX-50's main selling point is its outdoor-oriented positioning and promotion, along with mature power tuning, more spacious interior space, and optimized features for the Chinese market. These factors may be attractive to Mazda fans. However, from another perspective, the sales share of new energy vehicles is increasing steadily, especially in Mazda's traditional main sales regions, which presents a significant challenge for Mazda CX-50.
