On July 16, the Guangzhou Changjiang Trading House E8 was officially launched, with two models available: the Intelligent Edition and the Glory Edition. The new car is positioned as a mid-size MPV and will be equipped with the i-GTEC 2.0 hybrid power system, as well as features such as zero-gravity seats, Huawei HiCar interconnected applications, and L2-level intelligent driving assistance systems.

In terms of appearance, the new car is basically the same as the plug-in hybrid version, with a body-colored trapezoidal grille at the front, which is divided into five layers and has horizontal chromium decoration, making the front end look very atmospheric. The headlight group adopts a split-style design, with the top being an LED light strip and the lower part being a T-shaped light group that combines the near and far lighting and LED daytime running light, which looks very high-tech.

From the side of the car, the "Z" lettering waistline runs through the body, and the body lines are very dynamic. The car has a large multi-spoke wheel design, and the blade-shaped spokes look very sharp, enhancing the overall atmosphere. The new car and the plug-in hybrid version differ mainly in the removal of the charging port design on the left rear fender. The rear of the car is equipped with the popular through taillights, combined with the illuminated Trading House logo, which has high recognition. The car's length, width and height are 4920/1900/1760mm, and the wheelbase is 2930mm.

In terms of interior design, the new car is equipped with ADiGO SPACE intelligent cabin, featuring an 8.88-inch digital liquid crystal instrument panel and a 14.6-inch high-definition touch screen central control panel. The car's onboard computer is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip and is equipped with voice intelligent assistant Xiao Qi. The new car is equipped with iSPACE interactive scene service, for example, the "natural sounds" mode can be opened by one key to customize the sound effects of rain, wind, birds singing, etc., so that all passengers can enjoy the immersive natural atmosphere. The new car also has the function of Guangzhou Magic Square, which can customize the combination of car themes, lights, air conditioning, and music to meet individual needs. The new car adopts a 2+2+3 seven-seat design, with independent seats for the second row, equipped with electric leg rests, electric backrests, and electric cushions, which can be folded to a "flat" state. The second-row seats can open the "one-key zero-gravity mode", combined with astronautical human engineering, simulating the body state in zero gravity, which can reduce body pressure. Additionally, the new car is equipped with an L2-level intelligent driving assistance system, including: FCW forward collision warning assistance, AEB-P pedestrian recognition and protection, LDW lane departure warning assistance, TJA traffic congestion assistance, HMA intelligent high beam assistance, AEB automatic emergency braking assistance, ACC adaptive cruise control assistance, ICA integrated cruise control assistance, LKA lane keeping assistance, and TSR traffic sign recognition assistance, as well as a 540° high-definition panoramic imaging function.

In terms of power, the new car is equipped with i-GTEC hybrid power, with a 2.0L engine that produces 140 horsepower and a peak torque of 180 N·m. The electric motor produces 182 horsepower and a peak torque of 300 N·m. The transmission system uses a 2-speed DHT transmission, with a WLTC combined fuel consumption of 5.58 L/100km.

The Changjiang E8 Honor Edition is positioned as a mid-size MPV, and this segment is not as competitive as the large and medium-sized MPV segments. Among Changjiang E8's competitors at the same price range are the Dadi 7 from SAIC Maxus, but the two cars have some differences in terms of power. The Dadi 7 has both pure electric and plug-in hybrid power options, while Changjiang E8's newly added oil-hybrid model is not available in the Dadi 7. Additionally, there is the Honda Odyssey to choose from in the mid-size MPV market, which also has oil-hybrid power. Although its suggested retail price is higher, this car has also had a significant discount recently, so it is also a formidable competitor that cannot be ignored.

The Guangzhou Changjiang E8 was previously only available with a plug-in hybrid option, but the new Honor version is an oil-electric hybrid model, further enriching consumer choices. If you are looking to buy a large-capacity family MPV and are concerned about fuel economy, but do not have the conditions to install a charging station, this car would be a worthwhile option to consider. In addition, the new car is equipped with Huawei HiCar interconnection applications, L2-level driving assistance, and zero-gravity seats, with outstanding performance in smart configuration and comfort, further enhancing its market competitiveness.
