The all-new Sonata 2024 Gasoline sedan made its debut at the 2023 Guangzhou Auto Show, unified design with ONE MODEL worldwide, molds, and related standards. The car's front end was inspired by a starship, creating a futuristic and fashionable look with its starship-inspired interstellar warship front end. The horizon-spanning daytime running lights feature a seamless design that integrates the LED daytime running lights, turn signals, and creates a more fashionable and minimalist style.
Moving to the side of the car, the new model features a coupe-style fastback design with a powerful waistline, giving it a strong sporty character. The fluid body lines extend to the H-shaped through taillights, and the taillights use many digital matrix elements, making them highly recognizable. The sharp LED through taillights combined with the bicolor rear bumper and the small ducktail on the trunk lid make the car look very dynamic. In addition, a N Line version of the car was launched, featuring a more sporty matte paint finish and a dual-exhaust layout with four outlets on each side. The grille, side sill plates, and rear end all feature N Line badges, and the 19-inch wheels feature a dedicated five-spoke design with red calipers.

● New Car Background
In November 1985, Hyundai Motor launched the Sonata model, which has undergone ten generational changes over the past 38 years. The name "Sonata" comes from the Italian language, meaning "sonata," which represents a positive, upward, and striving for perfection lifestyle attitude. The first-generation Sonata featured a compact and unconventional design, coupled with mainstream equipment and economical fuel consumption, which was highly sought after by the market at the time and achieved an outstanding sales record of 528,000 units in three years.
『Sonata NF』
In 2002, as the first automobile production joint venture project approved after China's accession to the WTO, Beijing Hyundai Motor Co., Ltd. was established, and the fifth-generation Sonata was launched in China the same year. The new car received considerable attention and market sales when it was launched, with sales reaching over 50,000 units in its first year.
『Yu Xiang』
In 2005, the sixth-generation Sonata was launched and named Yu Xiang. The car was based on Hyundai's mid-size car platform NF and equipped with 2.0L and 2.4L engines. However, due to the fact that the car's price was much higher than that of the fifth-generation model, its sales were significantly lower than those of the fifth-generation model.
『Ling Xiang』
In December 2008, the seventh-generation Sonata model "Ling Xiang" was launched, with a total of 6 models available in 2 power options. The car was internally codenamed NFC, with the letter "C" in the code indicating that it was a model specifically designed for the Chinese market. After being tailored to meet Chinese consumer preferences, this generation of the car improved its product adaptability and truly met the needs of the Chinese market and Chinese consumers.
『Sonata VIII』
In 2009, the eighth generation Sonata was designed by American designer Andre Hudson and introduced the concept of 'fluid sculpture' for the first time, becoming one of the world's most popular mid-size sedans and can be said to be the most successful generation of cars after the fifth generation Sonata. In 2011, Beijing Hyundai introduced the eighth generation Sonata model in its original form, and it was called 'Sonata VIII' in China. After its launch, the eighth generation Sonata reached its peak, achieving new heights in brand sales and reputation. Among them, in 2012, the annual sales had already exceeded 100,000 units.
『Sonata IX』
In March 2015, the ninth generation Sonata was launched in China, but the car was also sold in the market together with the eighth generation Sonata. The two generations of models will be sold to different market segments and target audiences. Compared to the eighth generation model, the new Sonata IX is one size larger, and its design style is also different from the previous generation, leaning more towards a business style.
『Sonata Ⅹ』
At the Beijing Auto Show in 2019, the 10th Generation Sonata made its official debut and was launched in the Chinese market in July 2020. It was the first model to be built on Hyundai's latest i-GMP global modular architecture platform. The platform-based approach significantly reduced research and development costs, as a well-designed and mature platform can be more efficiently designed, developed, tested, and integrated with various resources.
『Sonata ⅩⅠ』
Just four years after the launch of the 10th Generation Sonata, Hyundai decided to skip the mid-cycle refresh and go straight to the next generation in 2023. The reason for this was that the market response to the current generation of models did not meet Hyundai's expectations. Then, on March 30, 2023, the all-new generation of Sonata (defined as the 9th generation overseas) made its debut at the 2023 Seoul Motor Show. In November of the same year, the domestically produced new Sonata completed its filing, and in December, it rolled off the production line at Beijing Hyundai's factory, marking Beijing Hyundai's entry into the "12 million car manufacturers club".
◆ New Car Competitors
In the current era of electric vehicles, the mid-size car market in China is still dominated by gasoline cars, with Camry, Passat, Magotan, and Accord still occupying the top positions in sales rankings and maintaining monthly sales of around 15,000 to 20,000 units. It can be seen that these models are all old rivals of Sonata, and they have good reputations in the market, leading to a fierce competitive relationship. At the same time, the all-new Camry has recently completed its launch, and the next-generation Magotan has completed its filing with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Compared with competitors, the 11th-generation Sonata's feature is its more balanced overall performance, providing opportunities for a comeback.
2024 is a crucial year for Hyundai's "2025 New Plan," and the launch of the 11th-generation Sonata will provide strong support for Beijing Hyundai to accelerate its "product transformation" and "brand renewal." Sonata has sold nearly 10 million units globally since the launch of its first model, with a solid user base. The 11th-generation model is based on the global ONE MODEL unified design, with a more youthful and individualistic appearance and a variety of power options, showing Hyundai's sincerity to Chinese users.
At the same time, Korean cars have always relied on their value for money to win the market, and they used to be very popular in China. However, in recent years, as Chinese brands have gradually risen, the value for money advantage of Korean cars has gradually been replaced. Faced with the increasingly competitive domestic market, Hyundai is also constantly trying new ways to break through. The 11th-generation Sonata launched today has a striking appearance in terms of design, full of technology and futuristic attributes, and is trying to keep pace with the new energy car companies in terms of intelligentization, equipped with a new CCNC intelligent networked architecture to further enhance its market competitiveness.
